ISABEL LOUISE HARMAN
(nee MURPHY)
On Wednesday, May 8, 2013; Isabel passed
away peacefully at Bethania Personal Care Home with family at her side. Isabel
was born in Souris, Manitoba on February 3, 1921, daughter to James and Doris
Murphy, sister to Stan, Grace, Fran, Jean, Jim and Eileen. She was predeceased
by Reginald, her husband of 62 years and four of her siblings.
Isabel and her family moved to the West Kildonan area of Winnipeg when she was
15 years old. She met Reginald (Bud) Harman in 1941 and they were married
in 1943. They moved to East Kildonan in 1950 where they raised their sons Ron
and Rick.
Isabel was a stay-at-home Mom and took great joy in providing for her
family. She made lifelong friendships while curling at St. Johns’ and
Elmwood Curling Clubs and golfing at Pine Ridge and Kildonan Golf Clubs.
Her teammates were knitters and their families were proud owners of beautiful
hand knit sweaters and vests. Summers were spent with her young sons, family and
friends at South Beach, Gimli. For daughters-in-law, Carla and Patty and
grandchildren, Rhonda, Donna, Trevor, Michaelyn, Christen and Brynn, the
cottage was the perfect spot for family gatherings. Isabel’s children, her
grandchildren and their spouses Blaine, Ross, Michael, Sterling and Michael,
her great grandchildren, Laney, Logan and Rickay Harman, Braedon Rybak, Bret
and Miranda Early, Kennedy, Joshua and Zachary Hoven, Sy and Levi Oram and Eva
and Nicolas Fominoff look forward to playing in the Murphy Family baseball game
that is held each year in Gimli.
Upon retirement, Isabel and Bud were fortunate to spend many happy years at
their winter home in Palm Springs, Ca. Although they enjoyed their wide circle
of friends, they were happiest when family came to visit. Isabel remained
an avid golfer at Date Palm Country Club until 2007 when she left her Palm
Springs home.
The Family extends their gratitude to Isabel’s dedicated caregivers at Bethania
Home on Concordia Avenue. There will not
be a formal Service. A family Celebration of Isabel’s Life will be held in Gimli on the
August long weekend.
