Richard Wojcik Funeral Director - Ruby Turner

RUBY TURNER
December 4, 1919 - February 6, 2013

Peacefully, with her family by her side, our loving and devoted Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma, Ruby Turner (nee Reader) passed away at the Oakview Place Personal Home.
Ruby will be deeply missed by her daughter Dawn (Mike); daughter-in-law Wendy; grandchildren Jim (Tina), Kristin (Dana), Ryan (Jenna) and Blair (Michelle); great grandchildren Mae, Jake and Addison; as well as by her sister Ruth.  She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 1973; son Jim in 2011; as well as by parents Fred and Violet; brothers Percy, Ray and Rolly; and sister June.
Born and raised in Winnipeg; Ruby lived her entire life in St. James.  She married Jim in 1948 and they spent many happy years together with their favourite times being at the cabin at Wendigo which she helped Jim build.  They especially enjoyed fishing which is something her family continues to love to do.  Ruby began her career as a hairdresser but in the mid 1960’s she began to work at the women’s clothing store D’Allairds where she eventually became store manager and worked there until retiring in 1984. She loved her many crafts, especially needlepoint, but would master anything she tried.  She spent many hours knitting for CancerCare and hospitals and has left her family and friends beautiful pieces which we all will treasure.  Above all else, Ruby was the most unselfish, generous and giving person who always thought of others before herself and always maintained a positive outlook in the face of any challenge.  She was the most wonderful Mom and Grandma we could have asked for and we will all miss her so much.
In compliance with Ruby’s wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held.
Special thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor of Oakview Place for the loving care you gave to Mom and for your help to the family during the last few days.  We appreciate it more than we can say.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Ruby’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200 – 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
Richard Wojcik, Funeral Director of Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, is in care of arrangements, 204 – 897 - 4665.
