HELEN JOSEPHINE
CHMIELOWIEC
On Monday, February 4, 2013 Helen
died peacefully after a brief illness at Concordia Hospital, at the age of 96
years.
Remaining to cherish Helen’s memory
are her three children, Ted ( Jo-Anne ) of Edmonton AB, Phyllis ( Barry ) of
Saskatoon SK and Chester of Victoria BC; 2 grandchildren, Jessica ( Mason ) and
Amanda ( David ), both of Saskatoon SK; along with 5 great grandchildren,
Samuel, Sophia, Katie, Olivia and Jack.
She was predeceased by her husband Philip Felix; as well as her two
brothers Ben and Victor.
Born in Winnipeg, December 10, 1916,
Helen lived her entire life in this community. She was a homemaker who was
actively involved with St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic Church over her
lifetime, serving as Financial Secretary for many years. She was also a member of the Women’s
Auxiliary of the church. Many will
recall Helen’s fondness for dancing, delightful sense of humour, her love of
games especially anything to do with cards, prodigious memory and her love of
travel.
On Saturday, June 22, 2013 Helen’s
Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Polish National Catholic
Church, 361 Burrows Avenue, officiated by Fr. Ted Czelen. Following this service a private ceremony for
interment will take place at the Church Cemetery.
Special thanks are given to Helen’s
cousin Walda and her husband Al as well as Helen’s many friends at the Fort
Agassiz.
Flowers are gratefully
declined. As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations can be made in Helen’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
