PETER GERBRANDT
February 18, 1925 –
January 12, 2014
A
beautiful soul has left this earth to continue his journey.
Left to deeply mourn Peter’s passing
are sons Bruce (Bonnie) and Jim (Nikki); grandchildren, Kris, Eric (Janina),
Ian (Nicky) and Jodie (Eric); great grandchildren Markus and Jake; as well as
by his wife of 13 years, Gwyne, along with her family especially Debby (Terry),
Alyse and Kelsey; brothers Albert (Hazel) and Ted (Tina); as well as many
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by many of his family members and as
well by his first wife Nell who passed away in 1999.
Peter was a gentle, hardworking,
talented man. His strong hands built and repaired many things and yet were also
capable of the fine stitches needed to produce a beautiful needlepoint. Peter worked at Eaton’s in the paint
department for many years until he retired.
He made lifelong friends there and entertained his family and friends
with many stories of his time spent as an “Eatonian”.
Travelling was one of Peter’s passions. He visited Europe made numerous trips to
Hawaii and Mexico but his trip of a lifetime came when he and Gwyne travelled
to Asia. He was so proud of his
well-documented travels.
We will deeply miss Peter’s
gregarious nature, bear hugs, and positive outlook. He set a fine example of a life well lived.
A Celebration of Peter’s Life will be
held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401
Westwood Drive. A private Interment will
take place at a later date.
The
family would like to thank the staff on the fifth floor at the Grace Hospital
for their excellent care.
In
lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
