Richard Wojcik's Funeral Home Winnipeg - Muriel Simister Funeral Arrangements

MURIEL GRACE SIMISTER
(nee HAMMETT)

Following a brief illness Muriel passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at the age of 90 years.
Muriel is survived by daughters Judy (Mike) Fennessy, Susanne (Gordon) Pringle, Carol (Doug) Brophy; grandchildren Christopher (Andrea), Kristin (Mark), Ryan (Kari) and Leah and great grandchildren Emily and Liam.  She will be fondly remembered by her brother John; sister's Dorothy, Margaret and Jean; as well as many nieces; nephews and friends. She was predeceased by husbands Frank Davey (1944), James Richard Cassie (1979) and Samuel Simister (1994).
Born April 9, 1923 in North Kildonan, Manitoba, Muriel subsequently lived in Montreal, Ottawa, South Surrey, B.C. and Tuxedo, Winnipeg.  She was an avid and informed reader, strong supporter of the arts, passionate gardener and enthusiastic global traveler.  Canoeing, ocean kayaking, mountain hiking and cargo ship sailing were but a few of her enjoyed pursuits.
The family extends deep gratitude to the teams at both the Shaftesbury Park Retirement Residence and the Poseidon Care Centre for their kind and compassionate care of our mother.
At Muriel’s request, a private family celebration of her life will take place at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2, would be appreciated.
