wojcik's Funeral Chapel - Marie Miller Funeral Arrangements

MARIE “BETTY” ELIZABETH MILLER
(nee MITCHELL)
May 13, 1923 – January 22, 2014

It is with sad hearts that the family announces the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother “Betty” Miller on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at the age of 90 years.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children, Glenn (Lynne), Janis (Bill), Gerry, Richard (Ingrid), Colleen (Bobby), Steven (Sharon) and Craig (Kim); grandchildren, Wade (Kirrily), Sheryl,  Christopher, Cory, Cari-Ann, Gordon, Curtis, Brooke; great grandson, Will; as well as by sister Christine Ferguson of Sarnia, ON; brother Hank (Winnie) of St. Albert, AB; and sister-in-law Winnie Miller of Drayton, AB. She was predeceased by her husband Edward (2008) of 60 years of marriage.
Born in Killarney, MB, Betty joined the Army from 1940-1945 and so her adventure of life started. That training prepared her to deal with her seven children.  In 1951 she built her house on Davidson St. in St. James and made many lifelong friends, until her passing. She enjoyed a cup of tea or coffee with her good neighbours, where they would solve the problems of the world.
Betty’s joy in life was her family. With seven children, she developed a love for sewing, and passion for cooking and baking. Once her children had grown, she went to work for Eaton’s – the downtown store until retirement. Betty became a member of the Eaton’s Retirement Group and took many trips and was an avid participant in their Travel-logs. Never one to be idle, she joined a bowling league, took aqua-size classes, yoga and aerobics. Gardening was her pleasure and her gardens were always beautiful.  Her grandchildren were her biggest enjoyment.
A Celebration of Betty’s Life will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue at Mount Royal Road.
A very special thanks to the staff of Tower 7 and 3 East Wing at Deer Lodge Centre for their wonderful care and compassion during her 7 1/2 month stay.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to a charity or organization of one’s choice.
