ROBERT
LEONARD DREWLO
December
1, 1942 - October 19, 2013
It is with deep
sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Leonard Drewlo
of Beausejour, MB at Selkirk General Hospital after a courageous battle with
Cancer.
Bob is survived by his
wife of 45 years Lorraine (Molinski) and his children Darren (Vikki) and Lorry
(Rod) Drewlo.
He will also be sadly
missed by sister Grace Darroch (Mel), sisters-in-law's Margaret Drewlo and Eva
Molinski and his nephews and niece Lorne, Leanne (Fabio, Amelia
and Gianna), Ryan, four legged granddogs/cats Buster, Makita, Roxy, Trigg,
Carmicheal and Windham, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He was
predeceased by his parents Leonard Drewlo (2001) and Helen Drewlo (Kaszowski)
(1999) and brother Don Drewlo (2004).
Bob lived all his life
in Beausejour, where he owned and operated a variety of businesses with his
wife Lorraine which usually involved the use of big toys or machinery.
In 1967, Bob owned and operated Thrifty Cartage (garbage pick-up)
where he serviced the Town of Beausejour for 22 years. In 1973, Bob began
Bob's Towing, in 1989 Drewlo Drilling and Towing was established and
was a loyal contractor to CAA Manitoba for 40 years.
Bob had a passion for
flying. He started jumping off rooftops with umbrellas, then quickly
realized he would be better off attaining his pilot’s license which he
accomplished in 1987 and purchased his first airplane in 1988.
This started a chain reaction with the purchase of a Citabria and completing
the assembly of his own kit airplane an RV-8 with his son Darren in 2008.
He loved his big toys which included, a gyrocopter, airboat, jet boat,
pontoon boat, motor homes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, dune buggy's,
and other numerous motorized projects that would keep him up at night.
Bob and Lorraine took
many trips to Florida and across the States and Canada with their motor home.
At the age of 60 Bob wrote his motorcycle license which began a new adventure
resulting in the road having no limits. They travelled everywhere on that
bike. Dad enjoyed entertaining. With his wife Lorraine
on accordion, son Darren on saxophone and daughter Lorry on
guitar, family, friends and even strangers were entertained with the strums of
his banjo, Nester Pester routines, practical jokes and tricks. He had an
amazing sense of humour and through laughter created lots of memories for
everyone who met him. Dad said...... if you think of me and cry, don't
think of me at all. But if you think of me and smile and have a story to
tell, then think of me often.
A
remembrance gathering will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, October 25, 2013,
at the Brokenhead Recreational Complex located at 320 Veterans Lane,
Beausejour, MB.
Flowers respectfully
declined. Should friends wish make a donation, donations can be made in Bob's
memory to the Western Canada Aviation Museum, 958 Ferry Rd.
Winnipeg, MB or on-line www.wcam.mb.ca
