HON. LT./COL. SYDNEY J. CHAPMAN

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Syd Chapman on Monday, August 26, 2013 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 93 years.
Left to forever cherish Syd’s memory are his daughter Shelley (Jeff); grandchildren Megan, Taylor, Colin and Krista; daughters in law Rosemary and Lynnet Chapman; and sister Doreen (Ken).  He was predeceased by his wife Mary (1986); sons Gary (2003) and Kenny (2011); and brother Derek.
Syd was born in Birmingham, England and served in the RAF during World War 2.  In 1949, he moved to Canada with Mary and their sons.  He was a Certified Chef du Cuisine and taught food services at Tec Voc and Sturgeon Creek High School until his retirement. Syd was an avid member of 402 Squadron Reserve for many years and received the rank of Honorary Lt/Colonel. He enjoyed cooking, reading and socializing at his residence Villa Cabrini.
Special thanks to Merrilyn Fiori, Joe Calcutt, Dave Gallant and Steve Best for being there for Syd.
A private family Service will be held in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’ Funeral Chapel.
