Wojcik's Funeral Chapel - Joan McCorriston Funeral Arrangements

JOAN ALICE MCCORRISTON
(nee MISCAVISH)
AUGUST 19, 1927 - SEPTEMBER 29, 2013

Peacefully on Sunday morning, after another battle with Cancer, Joan was finally called "Home". She was reunited with the family that had gone before her. Percy, her husband; parents John and Genevieve; sisters Vera and Margaret; and brothers Bill, Harold, Casmer and John.  Aunty Joan leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews that will greatly miss her.
Joan was born and raised in Minnedosa. When the family moved to Winnipeg she attended Business College and landed a job working for the City of Winnipeg.  She was happily employed with the City of Winnipeg until her retirement from the Treasury Department on May 9, 1985 after 39 years of service. Joan was very devoted to her church, and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Parish. While over time she could no longer attend church, she remained strong and faithful and drew strength from her faith when her health was failing her.
Family meant everything to Joan and her "Family" always included pets. She spent most of her life living with, and caring for, her mother and her faithful dogs and cats. Whenever you saw Aunt Joan she always had her dog with her.  When family got together at Aunty Joan’s house, you could always bet it would end with all of the kids grabbing a pillow, lying on the floor and listening to "Reveen" as we tried so hard not to giggle and laugh and she tried to convince us that we could be "Hypnotized". When you saw her little blue Rambler pull up outside your house, you knew you were in for some fun.
Aunty Joan was always a very busy woman. She enjoyed golf, curling and tennis and when she was no longer able to partake in these sports, you would always hear about the latest games that were on television.
On November 10, 1989 at the age of 62, Aunty Joan began a new adventure and married her longtime friend Percy. They spent a lot of time on the golf course and travelling to Florida to visit friends. They were happily married for almost 15 years until the untimely death of Percy in 2004.When her health began to fail, Joan moved from Riverwood Square into Calvary Place Personal Care Centre where she lived until her passing.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church, 254 Arnold Avenue with Rev. Wayne Morrissey, presiding.
We would like to thank the staff of Calvary Place for the exceptional loving care that you gave to Aunty Joan. Many of you prayed daily with her and for her, and she was always surrounded by love. We would also like to thank Virginia, another caring person that meant so much to our Aunt Joan. May God bless you all.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local Humane Society.
