Wojcik's Funeral Chapel - Norman Fijal Funeral Arrangements

NORMAN FIJAL
October 29, 1938 to September 15, 2013
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norm Fijal with his family at his side.  Norm passed away at St Boniface General Hospital peacefully after a lengthy and courageous battle with Cancer.
Norm will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Doreen; sons Wade (Jacquie) and Kyle (Shari); grandchildren Kelsey, Dylan, Justin, Carson, Alex and Carter; sister April (Gord); and brother Kirk. He was predeceased by his son Randy; father Leo; and mother Emily.
A thoughtful and caring man, Norm always put others ahead of himself. Even through a lengthy and painful battle with multiple cancers, when asked "How are you?" - his reply was always "Pretty Good" or "Don't worry about me".  Norm never asked for much, a bag of peanuts for his friend chip, a fishing rod, a turkey dinner and his biggest joy in life - spending time with his family. The greatest smiles came from seeing his grandchildren.  He maintained a stash of treats, toys and a pocketful of coins.  The grandchildren always looked forward to sitting around the fire at the cabin listening to Grandpa's funny stories.
In compliance with Norm's wishes there will be no formal service and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff on 5B at St. Boniface General Hospital as well as CancerCare Manitoba.  We would also like to thank April and Gord Machej for their ongoing support during Norm's illness.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
