(nee LETOURNEAU)
Our much loved Cindy has been welcomed home to the arms of the creator after a
brave battle with cancer. Cindy passed with peace and grace on Monday, June 24,
2013 at the Health Sciences Center at the age of 46 years. She was taken from
us way too soon.
Those of us touched by Cindy’s blessings and left with many fond memories are,
sons Christopher and Joel; mother, Marie Buckle (nee Hotovec); father Guy
Letourneau; step father Bob Buckle; brothers Dodd Letourneau, Chris Buckle
(sister in law Lynne Buckle), Cory Letourneau; and sister Leanne Letourneau.
She also leaves her nephews Kyle and Chase Letourneau, Nicholas Winters, Kyle
Desjarlais, Phillip and Cory Zirk, and Nieces Brittney, Kaely and Nikki Buckle,
Karise Orellana and Chelsie Zirk; and her “sister friend” Betty Hirniak.
So many others at work and throughout her life will never forget how she
touched them including Esther Meisner, Dawn, Tracy, and Ric to name only a few.
Cindy was predeceased by her beloved husband and father of her two sons,
Michael Herrington; sweet daughter Michelle Herrington; wonderful step-mother,
Gwen Smith of Winnipeg; mother in law Jeanette Schneider of Florida; and her
grandparents.
Cindy worked as a special needs Educational Assistant in the Louis Riel School
Division. She was born to do this job and loved the children she worked with as
if they were her own. Everywhere she went, Cindy left warmth, love and
laughter. She had a way of smoothing over life with her dry, sarcastic humor
right to her last days. But what she loved the most was her family, in
particular her boys, Joel and Chris. There was no one who could know Cindy
without knowing that. They were her everything. Cindy collected antiques,
enjoyed camping, the Winnipeg Jets and Big Brother. She loved animals
especially her cats and her dog Serena. She recently purchased a home and
was proud to be able to live there with her sons.
In compliance with Cindy’s wishes, there will not be a Funeral, just a simple
family get-together at a later date.
We wish to thank Winnipeg Cancer Center and all the nurses and doctors there,
especially Jacques on the 3rd floor. Also, thanks to Dr. Tim Hiebert
and his nurse Lisa of the Palliative Care Team for the dignity and gentleness
they brought to this difficult process. Thanks to the nursing staff on the 4th
floor at HSC especially Katie, who got the popsicles, Morgan from the
babysitters and to Sarah who brought sunshine into every day.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SMD, Society for Manitobans with
Disabilities in honor of her many “children” from work.
