Richard Wojcik Funeral Director - Sheila Maydaniuk

SHEILA MAYDANIUK

Peacefully on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 Sheila Maydaniuk (Wurster), at the age of 65, passed away at the Grace General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Left to cherish Sheila's memory are her beloved husband Taras of 44 years; sons Taras (Gail) and Darren (Tracy); grandchildren Bob and Brad, Taryn, Tanya, Tiara and Rylan; great grandson, Mason, all of Winnipeg; sister Sharon (Larry) Stinson of Pine Falls, Manitoba; as well as numerous aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and friends.  She was predeceased by her father, Edward; mother, Dorothy; and brothers Larry and Donnie.
Sheila was the first of four children born to Edward and Dorothy Wurster (Klapprat). She was born on March 14, 1947 in Eriksdale, Manitoba.  Most of her early years were spent on the family farm near Grahamdale, Manitoba. She attended school at Carnridge and Moosehorn Collegiate.  Sheila also spent time on her Aunt May and Uncle Kasmir Sokalski's farm in Beausejour, Manitoba caring for her cousin Carol, while they worked in the fields.
Later, Sheila moved to Winnipeg to begin training at the Winnipeg General Hospital as an LPN.  She started work at the Women's Pavilion and worked in various areas at the Winnipeg General Hospital.
In 1966 Sheila met Taras; they were married in 1968 and raised two sons. Once the boys were in school she found work at The Bay Unicity starting in the fabric department. She retired after 15 year when The Bay in Unicity closed down. Sheila enjoyed camping, sewing, canning, reading and cooking, especially for her family.   Her many specialties will be missed.
Mom will always be remembered as a gentle, kind and loving person.  She loved the simple things in life, like just watching the rabbits and the deer eat her garden.
A Celebration of Sheila's Life will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue.
The family extends their gratitude to all of the staff at Grace General Hospital for taking exceptional care of our Mom.
Flowers are graciously declined, and the family instead requests that a donation be made to the Lupus Society, Alzheimer's Society or a charity of choice in Sheila's memory.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Funeral Director, Richard Wojcik of Wojcik's Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, 204 - 897 - 4665.
