Nancy, with her loving family by her side
passed away suddenly at the Health Science Center on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at
the age of 83 years. She had been a resident of the Parkview Place nursing home
for the past two months.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory are her
brother Jack Swan (Irene), nephews Jack, Marty, Jeff, Bob, Ken and niece Cindy;
brother Bill Swan (Fran), niece Allison and nephew Daniel; sister Eleanor
DeCock (Frank) and nieces Lisa and Paula; brother–in–law George Woolley,
nephews George, Dean and niece Gina; uncle Howie Swan and cousins Brian, Dale
and Kevin; aunt Nan and uncle Alf Brisbois and cousins Karen, Bill and Tom; and
aunt Ethel and cousins Beryl and Robbie. She was predeceased by her beloved
husband of 48 years Bob; parents, Johnnie and Fannie Swan; and her sister

On April 16, 1931 Nancy was born in Winnipeg
and after completing high school at Lord Selkirk she moved to St. Catharines,
Ontario, where she met and married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Richmond
on May 4, 1956.
Nancy started her career doing bookkeeping
for a furniture store and hotel. She also established a very successful dog
grooming business. She had a great love for animals treating all with special
care and training. Nancy loved her entire family with all her heart and had a
continuing love and interest for all of her nieces and nephews who will greatly
miss her. After her husband died in 2004, she returned to Winnipeg the
following year.
The family would like to express their most sincere thanks to Dr. Wes Palatnick
and all the staff who attended Nancy at the HSC Emergency. We would also like
to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonderful care given to
Nancy during her brief stay at Parkview Place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way,
Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3, or a charity of your choice.
In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, her final resting place will be in St.
Catharines alongside her beloved husband Bob. A private family gathering will
be held at a future date.
