RUBY
LILLIAN CHILDS
November,
20 1929 - July 18, 2014
It is with
deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear mother and
grandmother after a lengthy stay at Seven Oaks Hospital with her family by her
side.
Remaining to
forever cherish Ruby’s memory are her three daughters, Terrie (Ian), Sandy (Cecil), Gloria (Allan); son Brian;
as well as thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sister Margaret
McIness; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her husband Stan in 2001; son Dennis in 2011; grandson Shaun in
1999; and brothers George in 2009 and Ed in
2011.
Mom always looked forward to spending time
with her grandchildren. As we were growing up it was important to Mom and Dad
to take us on vacations in their trailers and motorhomes; these were always
great adventures. In their retirement years Mom and Dad still looked forward to
the open road as well as spending time at the family cottage at Lee River. One
of Mom’s many passions were her flowerbeds
and rock gardens. Later in life Mom worked alongside Dad in their family
businesses.
In keeping
with Mom’s wishes there will be no formal Funeral
Service.
The family
would like to give a special thank-you to all of Mom’s caregivers at Seven Oakes 4th floor units, her
occupational therapists, physiotherapists, as well to the social worker, Steven,
for all his guidance and compassion.
As an
expression of sympathy, donations
may be made in Ruby's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or
Canadian Cancer Society of Manitoba.

Those
we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still
loved, still missed, still very dear.
Rest
in peace Mom
