SANDRA AMMANN
(nee JOHNSTON)
Peacefully
after courageous battles with Cancer it is with deep regret that we announce
the death of Sandra on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the St. Boniface Hospital
with husband Rene and sister Maxine at her side.
Sandra
leaves behind her Husband Rene Ammann; two brothers John (Jytte) Brian
(Suzanne); and one sister Maxine (Pat). She was predeceased by her parents.
On
November 11, 1944 Sandra was born in Portage La Prairie. After growing up
happily on the family farm she attended the School of Medical Technology at the
Misericordia General Hospital, graduating in 1964, later working in the
Misericordia and Brandon General Laboratories. In 1968 with great excitement
she secured a job at Boehringer in Ingelheim am Rhein in Germany testing
pharmaceutical for diabetics. On returning to Canada in 1996 Sandra worked at
the Medical College in Winnipeg testing sugars on diabetics and premature
babies and researching why diabetic’s mothers had large babies. During this time
she met Rene and they married in December of 1969 a long and happy 44 years
together in Winnipeg. In 1970 Sandra returned to the M.G.H. Laboratory retiring
in 2006 and then started working at Computer services and Maintenance and
testing part time until 2010. Sandra and Rene loved to travel and spent time in
the U.S.A., Mexico, Europe, Switzerland, Jamaica and England, the highlight of
which was a 17 week trip to Australia and New Zeeland in 2011.
At
Sandra’s request no public Services will be held.
