WOJCIK'S FUNERAL CHAPEL - AURELIAN D'SOUZA FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

AURELIAN (AURIE) PACIANO D’SOUZA

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Dad and Granddad on
Friday, May 2, 2014, at St. Boniface Hospital.
Aurie will be sadly missed by his children Angela (Hassan) Nizami in Pakistan; Gemma (Andre) LaFrenais; Loretta (Arthur) McNaughtan in England; Damian D’Souza; Cyrina (Greg) LaFrenais; Christopher (Bev) D’Souza; grandchildren Faisal, Sara, Sunara, Tiffany, Donald, Abigail (Colin), Angus (Leanne), Aurelian, Adrian (Cathy), Glen; and great-grandchildren Daniel, Isabel and Grace.  He will also be dearly missed by his sister Jaunita D’Silva and brother Anthony D’Souza in Australia and sister-in-law Marie D’Souza; special God-child Michelle who will cherish him for her great childhood memories; and by the Dias family, Hannah family; his many cousins; nieces; and nephews. Aurie was predeceased by his wife (Simona D’Souza); daughter (Aureen D’Souza); sister (Angela D’Souza); parents (Lazarus and Mary D’Souza); brother (Abel D’Souza); brother-in-law (Benjamin D’Silva); and sister in-law (Rita D’Souza).
On May 24, 1928 Aurie was born in Bombay India. He moved to Pakistan in the 1940’s, and then moved to Saudi Arabia in the 1970’s.  His daughter Gemma immigrated to Canada, and in 1981 he was able to reunite the rest of his family with her in Winnipeg.  He was a devoted father and a kind grandfather; his love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren had no boundaries.  His generosity and never ending love extended beyond his family to his friends.
Aurie was an avid church goer who loved religious retreats which he often attended.  He believed in saying the rosary and had great faith in Our Lady until the very end.  His profession in Karachi and Saudi Arabia was in the administrative field.  When he moved to Winnipeg, he continued in the same profession and worked for the Manitoba Government as the first male secretary in his department. Aurie enjoyed many sports such as boxing, field hockey, cricket and soccer.  He also loved to sing, play instruments and was a great ball room dancer.  He enjoyed cooking for his children and friends.  All those who knew Aurie appreciated his wisdom, kindness, sense of humour and his warm hospitality.
A eulogy will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial which will be Celebrated on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street with Rev. Fr. Paul Tinguely presiding. Interment will follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the Mass.
The family would like to thank the staff at Catherine Place, the Home Care staff (past and present), as well as all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, especially units 6E and 5B for all their loving care and kindness which was much appreciated.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the St. Boniface Hospital.
