Wojcik's Funeral Home - Cora Masson Funeral Arrangements

CORA BERNADINE MASSON
(nee PETERSON)
1913 – 2013

Cora died peacefully in her home at River Park Gardens, St. Vital, June 21, 2013, 12 days short of her 100th birthday.
Predeceased by husband "Bunt" in 1989, she leaves son Brian Masson and wife Theresa in Los Angeles, and daughter Audrey Reineking and husband Rich in Chicago, as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cora was born on the Peterson family farm near Morden, where she spent her formative years. After graduating as a registered nurse, she served in Winnipeg hospitals before marrying and raising her family in Fort Garry. She returned to nursing during times of stress, notably the polio epidemic of the 1950s. Her children grown, she followed Bunt, a government agriculturist, to other postings including Ottawa. Following Bunt's retirement they settled again in Winnipeg, where she spent her final years. Throughout her life, Cora was an enthusiastic wife, mother and grandmother. A proficient seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren, a skill she passed to daughter Audrey.
Our family is especially grateful to Cora's niece, our cousin Rae Campbell and husband Tom who served as another son and daughter, here in Winnipeg, bringing peace, comfort and joy to her final years.
In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered on the family farm at Morden.
