WOJCIK'S FUNERAL HOME ENTRUSTED TO JOHN GLYNDOWER MARLOW

With sadness we announce the sudden peaceful passing of John Glyndower Marlow on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Health Sciences Centre at the age of 71 years. John leaves behind his wife of 51 years, Mary-Helen (nee Sloan); son Johnny; grandson John; granddaughter Lori (Ryan) Marlow-Goldring; and special cat, Snow. He also leaves behind siblings Bill (Susan), David (Ruth) and June (Bob) Regimbald; his “out-law” family Anne (Tom) Alexander, Larry (Kathy) Sloan, Mary-Catherine (Mike) Watson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Son Michael; parents Leola and John; and sister Barbara Davies. Born on November 8, 1941 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, John joined the Armed Forces in 1957 and proudly served for 25 years with the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) and the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI), NORAD, NATO, and the United Nations. In 1979 he went to work at Bristol Aerospace for 23 years where he became an active member of CAIMAW Local #5 serving as Shop Steward and contributing to various committees, with three terms as Local President. In 1992 after the merger of CAIMAW with CAW John then headed up Local 3005 Retirees Chapter which he was active in up to the time of his passing. His commitment to social justice did not diminish in retirement, as John represented the Manitoba Federation of Union Retirees and served on the Manitoba Federation of Labour Executive Council. He was also a vocal advocate for Veteran's compensation and pension benefits. On Friday, November 16, 2012 John’s Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue. The family would like to thank Gloria for her comfort and help. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army. "Hey there good lookin'!"
