Wojcik's Funeral Home - Eva Churcher Funeral Arrangements

EVA ISABEL CHURCHER
 (nee GRAY)

On Tuesday, June 4, 2013 our beloved Mother and Nana passed away at the age of 101 with her family by her side.
Left to mourn Isabel’s loss and cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Rick Workman; grandchildren Laura and Paul; niece Pat Schuler of Calgary; sister-in-law Irene Stevens; special friends Christine and Wayne Penhall of Ontario; friend Mary Klassen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Allan; son Robert; brother Albion Gray; sisters Alma Baxter and Laura (Beata) Kirkham; and parents Mary and Walter Gray.
As a young woman, Isabel loved to dance, horseback ride, play golf and sing. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang for many years in the St. Matthews Anglican Church Choir, the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, and the Vivace Ladies Choir. Her working life was at T. Eaton Co. Ltd. where she rose to the ranks of executive private secretary, and it was there that she met the love of her life, Allan. They married after the war and began a family, moving to Charleswood and then Silver Heights. Isabel happily and passionately devoted herself to being a wife and mother, and loved all things domestic. She was an accomplished seamstress, crocheter, knitter, baker and gardener.  Her greatest joy in life was her family, and her favorite place to be was anywhere with them, especially the cottage at Lake of the Woods. She was a Nana extraordinaire and adored Laura and Paul. She loved to travel and had special trips over the years with Claire to England, Scotland, Spain, Mexico, Guatamala and Florida. She and Allan spent many happy summers in Victoria, B.C.  Isabel was a gracious, kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of style, a lively sense of humor, a quick laugh, and a sharp intellect. Her love and cheerfulness will be forever missed.
On Friday, June 14, 2013 Isabel’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in  St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 755 Elm Street @ Grant Avenue.
In lieu of flowers if friends wish, donations may be made in Isabel’s memory to Osteoporosis Canada, Manitoba Chapter, 123 St. Anne’s Road, Winnipeg, MB, R2M 2Z1 or a charity of your choice.
