GORDON LISLE MAY
Papa passed away peacefully at 93 years of
age in his snoozing chair on Sunday afternoon, October 20, 2013.
Gordon will be deeply missed by his wife
Mavis, after 67 years of marriage; sister Ellen (Jack); children - Russ (Lori),
Jeff (Barb), Doug (Kathie) and Laura (Paul); grandchildren - Lisa (Kensley),
Christopher, Nathan, Chelsea, Gord (Maegan), Kiirsten, Ben (Quinn), Monique
(Monty); and great grandchildren – Mason, Kaeli, Paige, Lauren, Matthew and
Lindsey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews; their partners and close
friends. He was predeceased by his
parents, Harris & Flossie; brothers Stan and Les; sister Alice; and
daughter Donna.
Dad was born January 26, 1920 in Indian Head,
Saskatchewan. He was a RCAF veteran,
serving as a fighter/bomber pilot attached to the 39th Squadron of
the RAF in the Mediterranean Theatre during WWII. He maintained membership in the 500 Wing RCAF
Association and participated in several reunions of the war time pilots. Post war, he enjoyed a long career in the
retail and commercial clothing business, easing into retirement around 1992 ...

Papa was an avid curler, with over 60 years
membership in the Granite Curling Club, and a passionate golfer (scoring 3
holes-in-one), continuing through the summer of 2013 at Assiniboine Golf
Course. Throughout his life he was
active in a wide variety of church, community and business organizations. He has enjoyed the fellowship of residents
and staff at The Westhaven over the past 8 years.
We will celebrate Papa’s life on Wednesday,
October 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in The Bridge Church, 620 Oxbow Bend Road (West
Perimeter Hwy., South of Portage Ave.). He will be placed to rest in the Last Post
Columbaria at the Field of Honour for service personnel in Brookside Cemetery
at a later date.
