MYRTLE KENNEDY
On
Wednesday, October 31, 2012, Myrtle Kennedy passed away peacefully at Oakview
Place Personal Care Home. She had just recently celebrated her 90th
birthday on June 7, 2012.
Myrtle, along with
her father William, brother Walter and sister Emma arrived in Winnipeg from
Ireland when she was a young girl. Her
mother Margaret, followed later. Her
infant brother William remained in Ireland with family and never did come to
Canada.
Aunty Myrtle, as we
called her, was a member of the Emmanuel United Pentecostal Church. We (her
adopted family) met her through our Grandma (Helen Elwood) over fifty ye ars ago. She worked in a sewing factory and at
Eiffel Tower Bakery. Her favorite
hobbies were knitting and watching the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
On Wednesday,
November 7, 2012 Myrtle’s Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Wojcik’s
Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue @ Sharp Boulevard. Interment will follow in
Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue.
We wish to thank all
those who drove Myrtle to and from church for so many ye ars.
She always mentioned how grateful she was. We would also like to thank Oakview
Place staff for taking such good care of her, especially Gabby (Natalie).
In lieu of flowers,
donations in Myrtle’s memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45
Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or to the charity of your choice.
