JOSEPH
CHARLES GUARINO
Peacefully after a brief illness,
we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather,
Brother, Uncle and Friend – Joseph Charles Guarino - on Wednesday, December 5,
2012 at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 85 years. To all of those who
loved him, he was the heart and soul of the Guarino family - a loving husband,
a wise Father who endlessly encouraged and inspired his children.
Remaining to forever cherish Joseph’s memory are his
daughters; Cheryl (Rob), Wendy, (Lawrence), son; Jeffrey (Susan),
grandchildren; Jaime (Kevin), Jordan (Hanna), Brandon (Amanda), Brady, Riley,
Melody, Brittany, Andrea, great grandchildren; Ayden, Owen, Anne, Zoey and
Kate.
Joseph was born on November 10, 1927 to Joseph and Rose
Guarino. Joseph attended Gladstone, Earl Grey and Kelvin Schools and graduated
from Kelvin in 1946. He attended second
year University of Manitoba in 1947. During the summer months, Joseph
Life-Guarded at Grand Beach, apprenticed in Pharmacy for 2 years and finally
entered the CNR as a brakeman in 1948 becoming a Conductor in 1952. Joseph
married the love of his life Ella Macholz in 1953 and was happily married until
her death in 2000. During his employment
with the CNR, he began repairing televisions, which led up to a successful
rental business in 1963 – 1970. Joseph’s passion was sailing and spending many
summers sailing on Brereton Lake where he spent many memorable times with
family and friends. He retired from the railway in 1982 and spent time RV’ing
down south with his wife in the winters and summers at the lake. In his later
years he learned about computers and began building them. He could not stay
away from the Lake and spent a number of summers at his trailer at Spruce Sands
Resort
A private family Funeral Service for Joseph was held
Tuesday, December 11, 2012 and Entombment followed in the Queen of Heaven
Mausoleum in Assumption Cemetery at 3990 Portage Avenue where he will rest with
Ella, the love of his life.
Joseph was an exceptional, generous man who will be sorely
missed by many. Special thanks to the kindness and care which he was given at
the Oncology Clinic at Concordia Hospital. Flowers are gratefully declined and
