Wojcik's Funeral Home - Eileen Ireland Funeral Arrangements

EILEEN FLORA IRELAND
(nee JOHNSTON)

With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Eileen Ireland on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the age of 83 years.
Left to cherish Eileen’s memory are Bob, her loving husband for over 62 years and children Sandra (Jack), Valerie (Lorne), Ron, Colleen; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Eileen had a grand love of music and was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile and their choir for a great many years. Having a wonderful voice, she cherished the opportunity to put a music roll on her player piano and sing with the grandkids, or with anyone else that was willing. Eileen was fortunate to enjoy many opportunities to experience the excitement and diversity of different countries through travel. Whether it was parasailing in Mexico, enjoying the beaches of Hawaii, or touring the countryside of Ireland and Scotland, she could always be counted on to be a welcome, fun, and faithful travelling companion.
A gifted cook, Eileen’s creations couldn’t be bettered by the best chefs, and were absolute masterpieces. Whether it was her famous blueberry kuchen or prized pastry, everyone who had the pleasure of a sample, was indeed fortunate.
A dedicated and strong-willed woman, Eileen and Bob lovingly built a cottage on Nora Lake, where they spent their summers appreciating nature’s gifts and the great friends they made there.  When not summering at the cottage, Bob and Eileen spent a number of years wintering in Phoenix where they made even more friends, all of which they have always been grateful for. Her love and passion for her children and grandchildren, and life in general was undeniable and unconditional.
A Celebration of Eileen’s Life will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Canad Inns, 1824 Pembina Hwy between 1 and 4 p.m.
A real trooper, Eileen valiantly fought Alzheimer’s successfully for a number of years before finally succumbing at her home, with her loving family by her side.
The family extends the kindest thanks to the care and support workers who helped so much over recent months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
