In Loving Memory of
Clifford Dominic Alexander
Peacefully and after a lengthy illness, it is
with deep regret that we announce the passing of Clifford "Daddy
Canada" Alexander on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. He passed at his home at the
young age of 78 surrounded in the loving embrace of his family. We will all
miss him but know he is now at peace in God’s loving embrace.
Clifford is survived by (his former spouse)
Sheila; children Gemma, Selwyn, Janice, Jeannette, Anthony, Anselm and Edward;
11 grandchildren; as well as by his 12 brothers and sisters: Leonard, Francis,
David, Muriel, Ainsley (Fr. Patrick), Millie, Rueben, Lillian, Winston,
Margaret, Anthony and Anne; extended family and friends. He was predeceased by
his parents Ralph and Molly Alexander.
Born in Grenada Clifford moved to Trinidad
with his family at age three where he grew up near the oil fields of LaBrea
Pitch Lake area. He pursued a college education in England where he attained
his City and Guilds Diploma in Mechanics. Clifford immigrated to Canada in the
early 70’s where he raised his family. He worked at Neuls Springs and Chassis
until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the professional organization
of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows. He sang as a longstanding member of
the St. Charles Choir. Clifford was also a very active and productive member of
the Council of Caribbean Organization and the Grenadian Association of
Manitoba. He was until his death a dedicated volunteer for Meals on Wheels of
Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Funeral Liturgy will be Celebrated on
Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church,
320 St. Charles Street, with Rev. Fr. Paul Tinguely, presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Clifford’s
memory may be made to Meals on Wheels or Red Cross Canada.
