close friends. He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen “Kay”; parents Ernest
and Beatrice Burwash; brother Raymond Burwash; parents-in-law Patrick and
Catherine Lynch; and his brothers in law Owen Lynch and Mickey Cook.
Ken was born on July 26, 1935 in St.
Boniface Manitoba. He grew up in the west end of the city where he attended
school including at Daniel McIntyre. In his younger days, Ken was a competitive
cyclist and he took part in many races including the race from Winnipeg to
Kenora. In 1964 he married Kay and shortly thereafter their daughter Karen was
born. Ken worked in the insurance industry in various capacities ending his
working life at Manitoba Public Insurance. In 1979, he found sobriety through
the help and grace of Alcoholic Anonymous. He was a proud member of the Big
Book Group and he devoted much time to helping others with their recovery. Ken
truly followed and lived the Twelve Steps. After Kay’s passing, he and Karen
enjoyed many trips together including an Alaskan cruise with cousins Patsy and
