YANCY JOAN MARIE
SLOAN
(nee HICKSON)
1938 - 2014
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing
of Yancy Joan Marie Sloan on the 17th day of December 2014 at the age of 76,
but with fortune and joy having had Yancy as a mother and grandmother.
Yancy is survived by her sons, William Sloan (grandchildren,
Rhiannon and Spencer) and Charles Sloan (spouse Marcy, grandchildren Kelsie and
Morgan); as well as many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her
husband, Archibald Alexander Sloan.
Born in Flin Flon, MB. Yancy spent her adult life in
Winnipeg. She was devoted to her family and when her children were young, spent
countless hours volunteering at the local community center where she made many
lifelong friendships
Yancy had a special interest in the activities of her
children and grandchildren. It didn't matter what sport her children were
playing, you could always hear from the stands, HURRY! HURRY! QUICKLY! QUICKLY!
SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!! She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whether
it be baking cookies, making crafts or swimming in her pool, it was always a
great time at Grandma's. Yancy was also known to enjoy the odd game of bingo,
unfortunately she wasn't able to win that “Big” pot she was always talking
about.
No service will be held and in lieu of flowers, if you
wish, make a donation to the organization of your choice
We would like to thank the staff at the Riverview Health
Centre.

When we were
children, and wanted something Yancy would always say, "When our ship
comes in". At the time we may not have realized but having her in our
lives, our ship was always in.
She will be greatly missed
