MARIE HÉLÈNE
“GEORGETTE” Taylor
(nee Dionne)
It is with great
sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Georgette Taylor, on Monday,
October 6, 2014 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 87 years.
Georgette leaves to
mourn her beloved husband David; children Michael (Kathy), Robert (Linda), Rose
Marie (Steve), Cecile (Keith), Juliette (Raynald), Jerome (Shannon), David Jr.
(Keri), Pamela; sister Marcelle (Bill); 16 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her parents Joseph and Cecile Dionne and brother Jules.
On May 7, 1927,
Georgette was born in Letellier, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg where she met
David, the love of her life. They were married on May 10, 1952. They shared 62
wonderful years together and raised seven children. Georgette gave everything
of herself to care for her family. Her kind and gentle nature and infinite
wisdom were encouragement to everyone around her to be a better person. Throughout her life, Georgette faced many
medical challenges with courage, and always had a smile. She would always say,
selflessly "better me than you".
All the kids in the neighborhood looked forward to coming to our house
to play, because they knew that Mom would have homemade cookies or her bread
dough “pillows” ready for everyone to share.
After her last diagnosis and a brief stay in hospital, Mom wanted to
come home to be with her family. Every little thing we did for her was always
greeted with many thanks, hugs and kisses.
It was an honor and privilege for all of us to be able to help Georgette
through this difficult time in her life. Dad was a pillar of strength for Mom
and made her feel so special and so loved.
He will truly miss his little “Georgie”.
Funeral Mass will be
celebrated on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann's Roman
Catholic Church, 271 Hampton Street, Winnipeg, MB.
The family would like
to thank Georgette’s special friend Sister Alice Konefall for her many visits
to the house. Sister and Mom shared the same birthday. The family would also
like to thank her Guardian Angels from Palliative Care, Trish, Tom, Sean, Jenn
and Wendy (to name only a few) for the care and compassion they showed to Mom
and our family throughout her illness. Special thanks to Dr. Bruce Martin and
Dr. Jonathan Elkin who provided guidance and care.
In Lieu of flowers
donations may be made to the WRHA Palliative Care Donation Fund, MS107 - 820
Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1R9.
