Erwin Hoehn
On Saturday, November 8, 2014, Erwin passed
away at the Victoria General Hospital, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 79
years.
Erwin will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary
Ann; son John (Karen); as well as grandchildren Nora and Rylan.
On August 1, 1935, Erwin was born in Plaschov,
Lutzk Wolynia, Poland. During the Second World War, his family was relocated to
different places in Europe. In the fall of 1949, Erwin immigrated to Canada
from Germany with his mother and younger siblings, Edith and Helmut. Their new
home was made in Inglis, Manitoba. From 1955 to 1959, he worked in the Snow
Lake and Lynn Lake mines. In 1960, Erwin began working for the City of Winnipeg
in the Parks and Recreation / Forestry branches. He reluctantly retired early in 1991 due to
his ill health.
In spite of having to live through the
consequences of war, and facing several health challenges, Erwin lived his life
with optimism, gratitude, and a strong belief in God.
On Monday, November 17, 2014, Erwin’s Funeral Service
will be held at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 65
Walnut Street, Winnipeg, MB, with Pastor Bjoern Meinhardt, presiding.
Most sincere thanks to all the many various
health care personnel who were so kind in their care to him. Thanks are also
extended to all the A Rh+ Blood Type donors who donated so generously over the
past six years.
Flowers are gratefully declined. If you so
choose, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, St. Peter's Evangelical
Lutheran Church (Memorial Fund), or any other charity of your choice.
