ANNE MARIE NICOL
(nee MURPHY)
July 24, 1941 – April 19, 2014
On Saturday, April
19, 2014 Anne passed away suddenly with her family by her side.
Anne will be
greatly missed by her husband John of 52 years; son Tod, his wife Heidi and
their daughter Sabina; daughter Joanna, her husband Bill and their sons
Nicholas and Brendan; son Chad, his wife Anna and their daughter Olivia; brothers,
Bryan (children Judy and Bryan Jr.), Lynn and Terry.
Anne was born and
raised in Chatham, New Brunswick where she met John when he was a member of the
Air Force. From there they moved with John’s postings to France, Trenton,
Winnipeg, Gander, and then residing in Winnipeg for the remainder of her life.
Working at the
Golden West Retirement Lodge was a job Anne really enjoyed. She enjoyed being
with the residents and her fellow co-workers.
Anne loved spoiling
her grandchildren and they loved their Nana. She leaves all her children and
grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved. She had many
cherished friendships over the years.
She cared for everyone she knew, whether you were her family, friend or
a member of the community and she was always willing to help out someone in
need.
Anne loved the
outdoors which was usually evident by her tanned complexion. She was happiest
with the sun shining on her face. Anne really enjoyed playing bingo and her
trips to the casino. She recently filled
one of her bucket list items by vacationing in Las Vegas. She loved country
music and travelling with the girls each year (for over 25 years) to We Fest.
Anne’s family
wishes to extend their thanks to the attentive staff at Health Science Centre, MICU
who helped keep her comfortable in her final days.
In compliance with
Anne’s wishes a private family ceremony will take place.
In lieu of flowers,
please consider a donation in Anne’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation,
200 – 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or a charity of your choice.
