Wojcik's Funeral Chapel - Harry Carr's Funeral Arrangements

ALBERT “HARRY” CARR
January 29, 1932 – March 15, 2013

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Dad passed away suddenly on Friday, March 15, 2013 in his home at the age of 81 years.
Dad will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Tony (Kelly) and granddaughter Hayley; Graeme (Terri) and Paul; brother Jim (Barbara) in Newcastle upon Tyne, England; and will be missed by his loyal dog Murphy; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; and friends in Canada and the U.K.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, whom he recently lost to cancer in October of 2012; his parents, James and Caroline; and brother Allan.
Harry was born in 1932 in Cramlington, Newcastle upon Tyne, England; the middle of 3 sons. He grew up in Cramlington where he met the love of his life Margaret and married in 1956. They had three sons all born in England and in 1970 immigrated to Canada.
Dad worked his entire career with Canada Safeway and passionately supported the UFCW union. After retirement Dad developed a love for the game of golf. He became a member of 17-Wing golf course where he shot the elusive hole in one, a moment he would always remember.
One of the highlights of Dad’s life was the birth of his granddaughter Hayley. She quickly became the most important person in the world to him and cherished every moment he got to spend with her. He always promised to take Hayley on a trip back home to England so she could see where he and his sons had grown up. In 2010 Dad fulfilled that promise and it was the trip of a lifetime for them all.
Dad became a member of the Charleswood Legion 100 and quickly made many lifelong friends playing darts, snooker, and billiards and baking his famous pasties for the various events put on by the members. He was well known for his great sense of humor and had a joke for every occasion. Mom and Dad particularly liked going on Legion casino trips with their friends and always came home with new stories to tell. He loved to travel and always looked forward to taking the family camping every summer. Well into his 70’s, Dad still travelled and loved going to B.C to visit his son Graeme, to sit by the fire and talk about soccer. Everyone who knew Dad knew his truest love went to his beloved Newcastle United Football club. He supported the “Magpies” for 80 years and cheered for them through good and bad.
A Celebration of Harry’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street @ Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg.
A special thank you is extended to Dad’s friends Florence Smart and Evelyn Laham, niece Margaret Ilderton and great nephew Michael Lunt for always being there for him.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Humane Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
