ALISON PODWYSOCKI
(nee Veitch)
Peacefully at home with her family by
her side, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer; it is with
deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alison Podwysocki on Friday, March
8, 2013 at the age of 54 years.
Left to cherish Alison’s memory are
her beloved family, husband of 30 years Jeff; son Kurtis; daughter Kelsi; and
her loyal dog Chase; mother Audrey Veitch; sister Kim Taylor; sister Karen
Veitch (Brian); brother Duane Veitch; sister Heather McDonald (Greg); sister
Laureen Say (Charles); brother Kyle Veitch; brother Lance Veitch (Laura); as
well as numerous nieces; nephews; relatives; and close friends. She was
predeceased by her father David Veitch; and brother David.
Growing up at Winnipeg Beach, Alison
moved to Winnipeg at the age of 14. She attended Churchill High School and upon
graduating went to work as a clerk at Riverview Health Center formerly known as
The Municipal Hospitals with over 30 years service.
Alison was involved in many sports
including baseball, and soccer and made many friends in everything she did.
Alison loved going for walks with her special friends and kept it up until her
health would no longer allow her to. All of her friends were very special to
her.
Best known for her love of shopping,
Alison never found a mall too large, or store to small for her to enjoy. She
has passed this love on to both of her children.
Alison’s greatest love was for her
family. She had such a close bond with her husband and children that even
though cancer took her away, that bond will never be broken. Her love is never
ending and she will always be in our thoughts, our hearts, and our dreams.
On Sunday, March 17, 2013 Alison’s
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Churchill Park
United, 525 Beresford Avenue.
Special thanks to all of Alison’s
friends that visited, sent messages, and called on the phone. Her spirits would
always be lifted just by knowing you were thinking of her and that your love
and care was always there for her. The family would also like to thank the
Doctors, and nurses at Cancer Care, and the wonderful Staff at WRHA Palliative
Care for everything that they have done.
In lieu of flowers donations can be
made to CancerCare MB Challenge for Life under Laureen Say, Heart of
Safeway Team in memory of Alison Podwysocki.
