Wojcik's Funeral Home - Norma Patterson's Funeral Arrangements

NORMA NORA NETA PATTERSON

On Thursday, March14, 2013 Norma Patterson of Winnipeg, passed away at the Grace Hospital, after a brief illness at the age of 79 years.
Left to cherish Norma’s memory are her husband Robert; four children, Donna Brown of Texas, Bruce (Lorraine) Patterson of Calgary, Cameron Patterson of Virginia, and Allister Patterson of Winnipeg; four grandchildren, Andrea Brown, Amber Brown, Blair Patterson, and Brett Patterson; as well as other family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Jeff and Elsie Rankine; and brother Bill.
Norma was born in McCreary, MB on June 15, 1933, and grew up on a farm near Anola, MB. She married Robert Patterson on June 26,
1954, and they were together for 58 years. Norma touched a great many lives during her teaching and nursing careers. Before marrying she taught in a one-room schoolhouse near Anola.
Robert and Norma first lived in Saint Boniface, and then moved to a larger home in Charleswood. She served as a substitute teacher for Charleswood schools. She later trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, and brought comfort to patients and residents at several hospitals and nursing homes in Winnipeg.
After retiring, Robert and Norma moved to Comox, BC and Milk River, AB before returning to Manitoba. Like her mother, she was happiest when sharing healthy, balanced meals with her family. Everything was made from scratch, even the bread. For the last several years Norma enjoyed using the Internet to study a wide variety of interests, especially owls and the latest medical and nutrition research. Norma’s family and friends always received her best counsel and care.
A Memorial Service is planned for early summer in Gimli, a place that
Norma especially enjoyed visiting.
Norma’s family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Grace Hospital and the Assiniboine Clinic for their excellent care over many years.
Donations in Norma’s memory may be made to the St-Boniface Hospital Foundation, C1026-409 Tache Ave, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6.
