Jean and Danny were married in 1959. They had a son Gordon in 1960 and emigrated to Canada in 1967.

James (Jim) Keith Hembroff passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 66 years.
           James is survived by his wife Carla; daughters Kendal (Mathieu) and Tanya (Mike); grandchildren Garrick and Rielle; and sister Diane.
            In keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place this summer.

On Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Grace Hospital, Leslie passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years.

Leslie is survived by his wife Sheila, his daughter Hilda, and his grandchildren Meagan and Kyle.

Leslie was a proud Firefighter and served his City for 37 years. He was also a member at the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was a proud Scotsman who loved his home in Canada but never forgot where he came from. Leslie’s constant smile and the twinkle in his eye will be missed.

With great sadness we announce the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather on Monday, February 9, 2015.

George is survived by his wife, Joan; children Rob (Sheila), Jeff (Anna), Joanne (Jonn) and Marnie (Kevin); and grandchildren Allen, Andrew, Matthew, Stefan, Nicolas, Daniel, Nikkol, Brandon, and Mattie.

Born in Montreal, George was raised in Verdun, Quebec with his three sisters, Patricia, Maureen and Elizabeth. He worked at The Hudson's Bay Company for over 30 years. Over that time, his career took him across the country where George met his wife as well as many lifelong friends. He later worked at Gendis Corporation.

During George’s life he gave much of his time volunteering for many worthwhile causes. Through the church he helped several refugee families make a new life in Canada, volunteered at a soup kitchen, was an official with Track and Field Manitoba and after his retirement he volunteered at Winnipeg Harvest for 15 years.

George’s concern and love for others was an inspiration to all those whose lives he touched. He could always be counted on for his loving encouragement and a helping hand. In his kind and gentle way he served others and set a powerful example for us all. George was a gentleman who dedicated himself to his family and friends. He always greeted people with genuine enthusiasm and a big smile. 

George overcame his challenges in recent years with dignity, courage and fierce determination.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, with Rev. Fr. Paul Tinguely, presiding.

The family would like to thank the staff at Charleswood Care Centre and Grace Hospital for their compassionate care over the past few months.

The friends and family of Edna Greenfield wish to announce that she passed away on February 5, 2015 at the age of 83 at River View Health Centre in Winnipeg.

She is survived and deeply missed by Harry, her husband of almost 65 years, her sister Iris Boughton, her children Susan (Real Alarie), Keith (Penny), and Paul (Jerri), as well as her grandchildren Ainsley (Matt Christensen), Christine (Stephen Rose), Melanie (Caleb Mangaard), and Chad (Amanda), and her great grandchildren Ever, Coraline, Xander, Laelle, and Tavin.  She is also deeply missed by her nieces and nephews and their families, and by her many friends.

She was predeceased by her grandson Sean Greenfield on January 31, 2009, and by her sisters Dorothy Chesney and Constance Pember.

Edna was born on February 22, 1931 in Dagenham, England.  On March 25, 1950 she married Harry Greenfield and in 1957 they emigrated to Winnipeg.  After many years working at Palliser Furniture she  retired and has since spent much of her leisure time doing the things she loved; playing golf, darts, bowling, and line dancing.

Edna was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2012 and had one lung successfully removed at Christmas that year. Unfortunately the cancer had moved to her kidney and appeared in her other lung and despite her iron will, she succumbed.

Edna asked specifically that we thank the Palliative Care Unit in Winnipeg, especially Michelle, Sean, and Wendy, as well as the excellent staff at River View and her personal physician Dr. Gillian Breckman.  All of these people did their best for her, and she was very grateful.

She also wanted to thank her wonderful children who gave her such good care at the end.

Cremation has taken place and a gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in ANAVETS Unit 283, 3584 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Instead of flowers Edna asked that donations be made to the charity of your choice.

Peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 Freda passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 91 years. 

Left to mourn Freda’s memory are her sons, Joe (Coke) and Tom (Sandy); grandchildren, Robbin (Clay), Cara (Lloyd) and David (Mick). She is also survived by her brother Ken; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Joe in 1989; parents David and Amalia; sisters Molly, Kay, Emma and Eleanor and brothers, David, Alex and Victor.

Freda was born, raised and lived her entire life on College Avenue in Winnipeg, attending both Faraday and Isaac Newton Schools. She was married in June 1944 at the age of 20. Throughout the years Freda worked for various companies including Globe Bedding, the Hudson's Bay Company, Assiniboia Downs and Sears. She was an avid gardener and was active in the Ladies Scatter Club Bowling League for many years before joining the St. John's Lawn Bowling Club.

After retirement Freda shared many holidays and spent a lot of time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very caring and generous Grandma who loved to travel, taking many bus trips and cruises with friends and family. She will be greatly missed and Saturday mornings will never be the same.

At Mom's request, no service or funeral will be held.
