Emily M. Wedge

DRUITT)
On December 11, 1922 Emily Maude Wedge (nee
Druitt) was born in Teulon Manitoba, and passed away on Saturday, January 10,
2015 at the Lions Personal Care Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Emily is survived by her son, Wayne and his
family Graeme and Cynthia Wedge (children Liam, Aidan, Elise and Ava Jayne),
Austen and Cindy Wedge (daughter Deven), Curtis and Dale Wedge (children Isla
and Emmett), as well as Murray and Nadia Wedge (daughter Evelyn). She is also
survived by daughter Janice’s children, Colleen Simpson Laird and husband
Jarrad Laird (children Cameron and Jack) and Mathew Simpson and wife Katie
Crossman (children Archer and Rosemary). She was predeceased by son-in-law, Roy
Simpson in 2008; daughter Janice Simpson in 2009; as well as daughter-in-law
Angie Wedge in 2010.
Emily lived her early years in Teulon, Manitoba
and later in Stonewall, Manitoba. She married Wilfrid Wedge in 1941 and they
had a son Wayne in 1944, and a daughter Janice in 1948. The family moved to
Winnipeg in 1955 where they resided on Spruce Street and St. Vital Road. Emily
worked with her husband Wilf in the family restaurant in the Grain Exchange
before retiring to Woodlands, Manitoba. After Wilf passed away in 1980, she
moved from Woodlands to Winnipeg residing on Strauss Drive and later the
Kiwanis Lodge in St. James. Declining health forced Emily to move first to the
Misericordia Hospital, and since 2006 to the Lions Personal Care Centre on
Sherbrook Street.
In compliance with Emily’s wishes, a private
family service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the fourth floor
staff at Lions Personal Care Centre for their compassionate care over the past
years.
Donations made in Emily’s name to the Alzheimer
Association of Canada, 20 Eglinton Avenue W #1600, Toronto, ON, M4R 1K8, would
be greatly appreciated by the family.
